Shipping and local collection

I will endeavour to ship all items as soon as possible after receiving your order, but as I work alone, this can take a little while and it may be a few days until items are sent out. Please feel free to get in touch if you have an unusual shipping request, a tight deadline (or both!). UK orders are shipped by Royal Mail 2nd Class. If you would like to collect your order, you can use the code ‘LOCAL’ the checkout to remove shipping costs. I will contact you once I have processed and packaged your order to arrange a suitable collection date from my studio in Truro.

Whilst I endeavour to set a fair shipping price, if you are buying a significant amount of ceramics it may be that the cost of shipping exceeds the amount set at point of purchase - this is especially relevant for international shipping. With this in mind, if the cost of shipping exceeds the price paid at checkout, I will be in touch with you to discuss the increase in shipping cost, at which point you will of course have the right to cancel the order if you are not happy with any increase in price.

International shipping

I track all international orders for added reassurance and the reference code for your order will be sent to you as soon as your parcel has been delivered to the post office. Please be aware that orders that are shipped outside of the UK are shipped DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid). This means that customs and imports duties and charges can come into force once the parcel reaches its destination country. These will need to be paid for by the recipient and I have no control over these costs. Please spend some time researching these costs if you think this may affect your purchase. Please also note that the customer must take full liability for parcels returned to me due to unpaid customs charges.

If your parcels hasn’t arrived a week after your dispatch email has come through, please get in touch immediately so I can begin tracking the parcel and attempt to locate it. It becomes increasingly hard to locate a parcel and claim insurance if more than a month passes, so I will be unable to provide a full refund if there is no contact within 30 days of the dispatch email.

Gift orders

If your order is a gift, I am very happy to send items directly to the recipient. There is also an option at the checkout if you’d like me to include a handwritten note.

Returns

If for any reason you are unhappy with your items(s), you may return your order to me within 14 days of receiving it. Please note that there are no returns on sale items or on items that have been used. All returns must be sent by recorded delivery at your own cost, unless the item is faulty or damaged. In this scenario, please let me know within 24 hours and I will of course refund you the cost or send out another as soon as possible.

Care

Please treat your pots with care. While they are safe to use in a microwave and dishwasher, they are not as strong as mass-produced pottery and therefore I would always recommend hand washing over using a dishwasher. A dishwasher can be quite a rough experience and it is always a better option to wash by hand to increase the longevity of your pots. Additionally, many of my glazes can stain naturally overtime with liquids such as tea or coffee. The pots themselves are highly vitrified and there’s nothing toxic or dangerous that can leach out from the crackle glazes. This is simply a byproduct of having such surfaces.

Sustainability

I am committed to making my whole pottery business as sustainable as possible. We are signed up to a green energy provider so all of the electricity needed to fire the kiln and run the studio is 100 percent renewable. The clay I use is sourced both from Cornwall and further field, glaze materials come from a supplier in nearby Exeter and I am committed to making sure my packaging is plastic free. Having said that, in the first instance I use any packaging that I am given by friends, family and my children’s school to ensure that any packaging already in the system is given as long a life as possible. After this, I source recycled carboard boxes from a local supplier. To protect against damage in transit, I use a combination of recycled brown paper and corn starch peanuts as infill. Corn starch peanuts can be dissolved in water or added to your compost heap.
